    Agree, this sort of tax sucks and is really counterprodutive. You can see very vividly how insidious a tax and spend economy is, and why it creates a 'dead weight' on the economy.

    Have you tired complaining to your MP? He might be able to assist you in some way or point you in the right direction of other possible support options.

    its hard - really hard for any small business starting up today. I would say he should really look into any grants or 'reliefs' which may be available to him. as for staff - any possibility of a local catering college placing students on 'work experience'? you can but ask! would take some of the load off.

    Yes he had an idea that it would be high but the previous owner was in the process of some form of action to challenge the amount- unfortuantly what has come to light is that they did not continue the whole process therefore the council just billed the whole amount, hence it being a lot lot higher then first thought. He is going to try the avenues suggested and also re- start this process (really don't understand most of it lol)
    of challenging it.
