I am looking at changing my company car soon and I am really drawn to the 2.0 Diesel version Sport, I am having an extended test drive soon but I was wondering if anyone has one. If you have perhaps you could tell me how economical they are, I currently have a petrol car and diesel is abour 5p per litre dearer so I don't want to get one and find it is really expensive to run.

They have an Altea section with reviews and comments from owners.

There is quite a difference in fuel consumption as I recall, between the 2.0TDi and the 1.9 so make sure you do your homework and get the best one for you.

Good luck, they are nice cars. I was considering one for myself, but it worked out cheaper for me to run my trusty Golf TDi for another year or so.

I agree - they're nearly as rare are the New Nissan Primera and Peugeot 406 replacement.

Plenty of Primeras round here, mind you I'm in the North East and Nissans are popular, as they're built in Sunderland :) Primeras are great second-hand, not expensive, practical and very solid and dependable.

The Altea is a nice car, based on the Golf IIRC. The 2.0l Diesel sport has an official consumption figure of 47mpg. Sounds as if it should be on a par with a 1.6l petrol engine for gas. Given that it's a 138BHP engine that's not bad.
