Odd sized shoes - one size 5 the other a 6

Wife bought a pair for shoes from a high street shop chain.Next or DP no sure which.
She put them on and wore them for the first time yesterday. Then came home complaining about here feet. We then checked the shoes and found that she had been given a size 5 and a size 6.
She now wants to return to the shop and get the missing size 5.
To me it seems to be the shops mistake as the as floor girl did not check the sizes before bagging them up for the wife.
Where do we stand on exchanging the 6 for a 5. We have the receipt.
Thanks

They are effectively faulty by virtue of not being a matching pair so shouldnt be a problem0

i think you should go to the shop and get it changed. The shopkeeper should change it willingly as its not your mistake.0

Well actually no. If your wife had tried them on and was happy with them then there is no requirement for the shopkeeper to exchange them as it was her decision to purchase after examination of the goods.
However, common sense would dictate that they will just swap them out for you.0 -
I bet they have a similar pair in the stock room

Shouldn't be a problem taking them back to get a proper sized pair, as another poster has said there will be another odd sized pair in the stockroom. I personally would expect an apology from the shop but these things do happen from time to time, occasionally even come delivered in the box like that. I used to work in a shoe shop and we were all told to ensure when we sold a pair of shoes to check it was a proper pair in the box. We were told if we sold an odd pair we would be sacked, I never saw anyone sacked because of an odd pair was sold but putting that fear in your head was enough to make sure you checked every box you sold!0

Exact opposite (in THIS context) IS similar.

Sorry bod, but z1a is right if you are really being pedantic (and I know we are all just doing this for a laugh)
If the shop had a left pair and right pair matching the OP then it would be similar in context, the fact they would have exact opposite would mean it would be an opposite in the context as well.
If I've got that right, Im doubting myself now

We are all correct. (How's that for fence-sitting?)
