Last minute advice needed please?!

Options
Hi from a newbie! I have a tribunal for DLA today at 11.20! I am really stressing about it and wonder if anyone can give me any last minute advice? I have bipolar so it's based on that rather than anything physical I have applied, I get ESA already due to it and have very little proof/ evidence due to useless psychiatrists! I see someone different each time I go and have no cpn or anything as they say I have my husband home full time with me so don't need one! I'm currently battling all of that with the local health trust separately but obviously that means I have very little evidence for DLA! I've submitted all I have and just need to go today with hubby and try to explain how things are etc! I'm really nervous and no idea what to expect or what they may ask! I did get some advice from a welfare rights person who was pretty useless and just said oh they can ask anything!! Has anyone been to tribunal and could give me any last minute advice?!?!?!

Will post back later with result of it if I find out today and to let you know how it went!

Just tell the truth.....how your days go, both good and bad. What you need help with because of your condition. What takes you longer and what you cannot do. The panel is (I think) made up of a doctor, someone who specialises in the rules around DLA and a 'lay' person who has deep knowledge of disability.
They are there to make sure that the rules are applied properly, so I expect them to want to know anything that helps them make sure that that happens. DLA is for help in what you find difficult, impossible or need help with.
All the very best of luck......my son gets DLA and it seems a battle to get it sorted, but it's worth it. He can now live the life he should be living and get the help in that he needs.
    will be thinking of you.

  • Thanks so much, my son gets DLA too and we've never had any problems getting his but mine is another matter!! Really hoping they understand but not holding out much hope as don't want to be disappointed though I am sure I fit the criteria for at least low rate care but who knows what they will think!!
