BUT, I dug out the original contract that we signed and there was no mention of any repayment fee in the schedule of fees. I therefore returned Abbey's cheque and requested a FULL refund of the fee.
Two weeks later I have a cheque for £225 in my hands. Perserverance pays!
Remember though - NEVER deposit the first cheque if you intend to protest further - send it back. By taking the money, you are agreeing to their settlement.

Just need to send you a BIG thank you. I did as you suggested and returned the cheque asking for the full amount plus interest. It took nearly two months, but today I had a letter offering me the full £99 plus £16 inerest and £15 as an apology. I don't understand why you think you'll be refunded the difference between £225 and £95 when you were only charged £99. That simply isn't going to happen. Why do you still believe you've been over-charged?

Whatever bradthiele says, I don't see anything clever about asking for money you aren't entitled to and bolshing your (ex?)-lender around until they pay up. That's simply bullying.
Bullying Abbey....don't make me laugh:rotfl:MFW - We've only gone and blooming done it!May 2013:j0
