Any ideas for using haricot beans?

Options
I have a tin of haricot beans in my cupboard that have moved house with me twice:eek:

I must have bought them once upon a time for a recipe but have no idea what that recipe was LOL

What can I make with them please?
I live on my own so any recipes that can be frozen would be ideal as I doubt Ill be able to eat a whole tin plus other bits in one go!

In my cupboards I do have

lots of herbs and spices
lentils (red)
split peas
cous cous (the tomato ainsley harriot one)
pasta (spaghetti/pasta shapes/lasagna sheets/rice)
sweet potato
bisto granules
Oxo cubes (veggie/beef/italian)

in the freezer I have

chicken
mince (quorn)
Veggies
Kipper (??? no idea why LOL)
Salmon

but could spend a few pennies extra if needed

any ideas or are these beans destined to follow me for the rest of my life:rotfl:

Thanks muchly

haricot beans are the beans they use for baked beans in tins, you can make your own version with passata, worcester sauce etc have on toast!

otherwise, Id be tempted to just stick them in a soup with some other bits of veg eg onion, bit of sweet potato, stock cube, tomoatoes etc - and a bit of the broken pasta?

heres a soup recipe from the veg society

    Beany pate or dip

This is a really basic recipe - use any herbs or spices that you like to flavour - and you can freeze portions if you want to.

I love to make a salad using a tin of haricot beans mixed with a tin of tuna and some chopped raw/spring onion (according to taste preference :p) - lovely on a bed of lettuce! :D

Haricot beans are delicious with pork.
I use them to make a soup; onion, carrot, courgette, green beans all finely diced, add small chunk of pork, fry gently, add beans, tinned tomatoes, small pasta shapes and water and simmer gently for an hour ... delicious. The boys love it so much they even take it to school in flasks.

I have a delicious Nigel Slater recipe (from the Guardian). From memory - fry a red (or brown) onion and some crushed garlic. Add 6 good quality pork sausages (but your chicken would do just as well) and brown them. Add the drained beans, a tin of tomatoes, whatever herbs take your fancy, and black pepper. Simmer for about an hour. Serve with green veg and mashed potato.

I somehow managed to order three tins of Haricot beans when doing my online shop this week. I have not had them before and haven't a clue what to do with them. I obviously do not want to waste them and they do look very healthy so any ideas for recipes would be much appreciated.

    How about Boston Baked Beans:

    of my favourite, Minestrone soup:

Or simply add to casseroles to bulk them out.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
