Yes, both my daughters caught everything going when they were younger.........loads of time off school, went on for years. :(

    Then their immunity improved.....woohoo!! :D

Then they grew up, both started work in childrens nurseries and it started all over again, as their previous immunity didnt work with the new little kiddie bugs!!

I am that child! I'm 26 in may and have been ill almost my entire life. :o I've had chicken pox 3 or 4 times! I had swine flu whilst I was pregnant with my 1st child and I had Hyperemesis gravidarum at the same time.
I've had no end of tests, all for nothing. I just have a really weak immune system, thankfully I think all 3 of my children have inherited oh's immune system.:D

Has he had an iron count done, i've been ill for months and it turned out that my blood count was only 8.
  • Just thought id update all you kind people,

we returned to the drs on friday as the swelling was still present and the doc on call was the one who happens to be an eye specialist too which i didnt know. He said he wouldnt have prescribed amoxicillin, but a different antibiotic which is more suited for eyes and gave me the prescription for that if the one he was on didnt work at end of course.

Well that went down over the weekend finally and I thought all was well again, until this morning when he gets up with bright red cheeks again and a rash all over his body. On his trunk it was like the viral rash ive seen before with both my kids, however round his ankles and wrists it was like blisters. So back to the doctors again, who said it looked like slapped cheek but that as the rash was showing he wasnt contagious so was fine to go to school if they were ok to have him. I called and checked, they were so took him in.

My sister picked him up and as soon as he got home I could see straight away the rash was worse, so i stripped him off and checked him over and the rash was huge all over his body and his feet were swollen and he was very uncomfortable with it. So I called the surgery to ask if i could speak to a doctor, when one called back she said she wanted to see him.....so back we went again!! (im feeling like packing a bag and moving in there at the min lol)

Ended up seeing the eye specialist again as the one who called had to deal with an emergency and he took one look and said straight away its an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin and to stop giving it him and prescribed antihistimine and said given how bad it looks to give him double doses twice a day til it eases.

The little man is currently asleep on the sofa next to me after having a cool bath in his sisters oilatum and being covered in her epaderm to hopefully soothe the itch but its not stopped him scratching at his wrists or ankles unfortunately. His feet are the worst part, they are horribly swollen and covered in hives, so unless they go down overnight he wont be going to school tomorrow as he cant get his socks or shoes on comfortably.

    its really never ending lol

Yes I have one of them.

Youngest has never been strong immunity wise and will pick up every bug going. With colds, he will come down hard with them, even mild colds which most peope shake off, not helped by his asthma.

With him, it started when he was a tiny baby and developed bronchiolitis (he was slightly prem) and has just gone from there.

He is currently off school at the moment with a cold, the same cold the other two boys shook off within a couple of days and without any loss of school attendance....youngest came down with it on Thursday and is still quite poorly tonight with sharply decreased peak flows and an increase in asthmatic symptoms (before anyone asks, yes I am following his asthma action plan and we are not at panic stations.....yet!)

He also has a multitude of other problems, not least complex autism, gross food intolerances, food allergies (nuts, shellfish and rhubarb of all things!), bowel disorder, EDS and a growth problem...phew!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

my sis was like this - don't worry, she is forty now! she just catches everything going and gets it twice as bad! she seems to have no immunity to anything. she is what my nan would have called 'a weakling'. but, creaky gates last longest!
