Urgent Help Required Car insurance are taking money from my account without authorisa

Can someone please help me on that matter! I have been so down lately, seems like non of the people in the company give a damn, they just take the money whenever they want!

Let me start from the beginning..
My car was insured with the green company from the end of December. When I received the policy I have noticed some mistakes, like the number of seats should be 9 not 8 and the model of the car was different one, so I called them back during the 14 days time where I can make any changes, and let them know, they assured me they will change it. After a week I did not receive any emails nor letters so I called them again and said what was the problem. They said again that they will change it.
After a month I had noticed that instead of agreed price of £38 they are taking £53.45 and that I have not received anything from them regarding the changes or even amend of my car model I called them again.

I said again what was the problem, that my car is Volkswagen caravelle sedan 9 seats not 8 and without the synchro bit which weirdly they couldnt change it when I asked twice! I have also asked them why have they increased the amount of money for insurance when I did not agreed for anything like this.
The lady said that firstly, they increased the price because at some point of me calling them I said I was a tenant and not a home owner (supposedly they had that in their policy and since I rent a house, I have to pay more money for my car insurance :huh: ) Secondly, the lady said they dont insure 9 seater cars and that they had to cancel my policy on that call because it is illegal for me driving and I am sure for them as well (!) as the insurance is on the wrong car!!
Imagine, how annoyed I felt at this point., specially that I called them twice during first 14 days.

So the lady said they dont have any records of me calling them twice to change the model of my car. I even had witnesses for these two calls, from now on I think I will record my phone calls..

After two long hours of arguing I had nothing out of it and was left without my car insurance also facing to pay £85 for 'the remain of my policy'. The lady said I wont be paying money for cancellation but I have to pay the money for that. Is that fair and legal? It was not my fault!
I did everything in my power in 14 days to change everything what was wrong on policy, they did nothing.
Although they managed very well to change the price for my car insurance after they found out I am a tenant (also I have never ever said I was a home owner!!) and I honestly do not record them asking me to 'confirm' if i was a home owner when I called them later of which they dont have any records..very weird.

Ok, so I thought I will bear it somehow and pay the £85 and I said to her to cancel my policy but that I will NOT pay now when she insisted on my card details! I also said that I want email and letter of cancellation of policy with a reason for the cancellation and she was like, yes that's fine we will send you this along with a check for you to pay the £85 and then she hang up saying that a policy is cancel and my car is not insure from now on.

Since Friday I had my car insured with different company but I saw on my account there is some money missing. The green car company took £85 without my permission and extra £95 for I don't know what!!!! I have never agreed for that and I need this money. Next time they wont hesitate to take a thousand?!

I will call my bank straight thing tomorrow morning and see what they gotta say, but can anyone help me on that matter. I would be very very grateful!

Can insurance company get away with that? Insuring wrong car for over 3 months, get me paying more money then it was agreed, later cancel my policy and get me paying 85 without my consent and then took another 95 again without my consent?

Whats your thoughts folks?

    My first thought is there may be a misunderstanding between 9 seats and 8 seats plus driver.

    Regardless, sounds like you are better off away from them.

    You knew about the £85 but could you contact your bank and tell them the £95 was unauthorised?

    Probably there was misunderstanding, but I called them twice to change it for 9 and they did not do anything during first 14 days (in legal sense, I could still get out of the contract without paying any fees later if I would know they cant insure my car)

    I will call my bank first thing in the morning as they are closed now.
    However, I knew about the 85 but didn't authorised. Ahh I dont know I am right now very annoyed with the company. I feel like I was scammed..

    Does your licence cover you to drive a vehicle with 9 seats?

  • Well on the vehicle registration papers the car is registered for 9 seats if thats what you were asking?

    If he got his license before I think 1997, he will have a D1.

  • Ok, I am a woman and I dont know any of that haha. I am sorry. I know it is a 9 seater and that what is registered for.
    The point is why they didnt cancel my policy when they had time rather than wait and made me pay later.

    I don't like the idea of them stealing my money from my account as they fit.

    When did you or whoever drives it pass their test?

    Laws changed and you cannot pass your test and drive everything now.

    Its a PITA trying to keep track of what people can and cannot drive.
