    No, the scales that Halifax have will tell the user that there's 90p in that particular bag, it's not just a 'Yes/No'.

    They could always take it to pay for self service shopping at TEscos. As I understand it you can tip a load of coins into the cash hopper and any surplus will be refunded as higher denominations. Not used it myself but been told reliably that it works.
    Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • ... or ask in your local corner shop / newsagents if they would swap change for some notes, it is what we always do. Saves the 13% the machines in Asda etc take off you!
