Ours were great until I was cutting open some packaging at the weekend and the handle broke - generally the handles are not all metal but a bit of metal in a plastic loop. I also have to say anything labelled 'value' doesn't seem to last more than a few days in our house.
Last night was 90 minutes in the 'hot tub' with 3 Spanish students, tonight is just hot and sticky but the pool isn;t quite warm enough and I can't be bothered to pump out 2000 litres and fill it again with hot water. One of the students went home today, DD1 was crying this evening that she missed her, she had only been here 3 weeks.I think....0 -
Just googled it ... you can spend £70-90 on a pair of kitchen scissors!!!1
Given a budget of £70 I'd expect to pick up: good frying pan, set of 3 saucepans, a food processor, a microwave, a set of cutlery, a dinner service for four, a tin opener, tablecloth, tablemats, glasses, serving dishes .... and some £2 scissors.
And still have change to buy oven chips.0 -

Don't worry, thanks for thinking of me.
Boring story but I had a potato peeler that looked ordinary but peeled potatoes twice as fast as any other and never went blunt, I think I 'borrowed' it from home when I went to uni and took it with me when I worked as a ski chalet host, eventually about 3 years ago the blade started coming out of the plastic handle and eventually we had to abandon it. It looked like it cost pennies from a cheap shop but I have never found its match again and I still think of it with fond memories when I am peeling spuds or carrots....I think....0 -

Our ( as in my family, not dh and mine) best veg knife has an interesting provenance.. Looks ordinary though, and was cheap I dare say.

Googling to find if my cream can be bought over the counter in the US and find that I should have only been using it once a day, not 3 or 4 times. Oops, no wonder I thought it was effective. The instructions were in italian, so I never knew what was right.
Still can't find what can and can't be bought over the counter in the US. Betamethasone dipropionate if anyone knows any generic and available alternative.
Looks like the only OTC equiv is hydrocortisone.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I'm not going to say exactly where we are, for obvious reason, but we're on casting on the Romanian Black Sea coast for the next week.
I know that 3 people here worked out my address; don't even bother, my niece is looking after the house for me, as she works in a school, therefore has the summer off

And they would have known you, so could leave him knowing that he was safe in a loving family of his own.
DW's dad passed away between the time I asked him for permission to ask her to marry me and the actual wedding. Despite the sadness of his passing, I'm glad he knew I'd be marrying her.
Just realised that maybe nobody does that now but that's the way we did things in the 80s.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
