Real-life MMD: Should I stop using my ex-housemate's Netflix account?

As moral dilemmas go this strikes me as a pretty simple one:
If it is not your account, why would you use it without permission from the account holder?
If you are not sure whether your former flatmate is OK with your using it, just ask him.0 -
What goes round comes around.0

I would at least let him know it's still logged on and leave the ball in his court. (I say this because you may end up having to flat-share with him again, or have him recommend you as a tenant/ flatmate, and you want him to say good things about you).
He may be cool with it once you let him know, and tell you to have a watch every once in a while (and note, I don't say ask him if you can use it!!!). If he's not cool with it, he'll cancel.
If, for any reason, you sell your Xbox, then you should DEFINITELY delete all of his information along with your own!0 -
If it's not costing him or Netflix any extra money, carry on watching.0

I don't understand your dilemma . You know how you feel about this - otherwise why are you asking ?
I'm not going to say it's OK because you know it isn't .
The fact that others are saying that it's not too bad isn't going to make it easier for you .
Why don't you talk to your ex-flatmate ? And while you're at it - stop creeping about , stand up straight , meet peoples' eyes and start breathing again !0 -
It may be "victimless" but it's still fraud / theft as far as I can see. I'm surprised that so many don't have a problem with casual crime.
I agree 100%
You're not paying for the content and are using somebody else's login in breach of the terms and conditions. You are fully aware that these don't cover you, that the bills are not yours and that you no longer have any association with him
You offer a flimsy justification in your housemate's previous actions, but seem oblivious to the fact that you are stealing from Netflix rather than your housemate, so it is hard to see how that would be relevant.
Unlicensed content is unlicensed content, no matter whether you streamed it from the pirate bay, or took it from Netflix using a "borrowed" account.
All that said, Netflix is a great service and I'm glad you seem to be enjoying it. It's cheap too, so why not sign up?0 -
Just use it until he realises and cancels it
He used your Xbox, you use Netflix, a fair trade :money:0 -
As long as it's not costing him any money then carrying on watching.
If it is costing him then stop immediately.0 -
Why not just talk to the ex-flatmate?
Why don't people communicate in a normal fashion? :P0 -
It's no different to downloading a film or an album. I don't believe for a minute that all of those screaming"fraud!" have never downloaded something. Yes, technically you are stealing off Netflix, but as if you hadn't watched those films you wouldn't have got Netflix anyway, it's not costing them anything, and also this is Netflix, not some small family run business scraping just enough to pay for Little Timmy's heart surgery. If you were selling or giving away the login details or copying and dowloading hundred of films to distribute them then that would be naughty, but just using the account is not hurting anyone.0
