Switching tariff with the same supplier and avoiding exit penalties
Options
Hi, I have read in the forums that when switching to a different supplier it takes about 3 - 5 weeks. However, if switching to a different tariff with the SAME supplier does it occur instantly or is it 3 - 5 weeks also.
My current deal with nPower (GO FIX 10) ends on 8th April and according to the switching sites the best tariff is still with nPower. I want to avoid the exit penalties so looking for advice on the best time to switch.

Yes, a switch between tariffs should be almost instant (though I'll probably except EDF from that statement). So wait until 8/4 and then switch. The T&C's do not say you will pay an ETC though, should you switch to an alternative nPower tariff, just that you may do. Somewhat ambiguous. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi. I am on the Go Fix 10 as well. Any idea how early can I start applying for an supplier switch to fit in a change for around 8th April? I know the switch usually takes about 3-5 weeks but not sure if the 'switch' refers to the application process or the actual date of switching..0

Switch date is the date you go on supply with the new provider. So for an 8/4 cut off you can apply now-that's barely 2 weeks away. The minimum is 3 weeks. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
