Any property you wish, up to £600,000
Enjoy the upcoming property ride my friend.

Great stuff. My dad knows someone who has properties that he rents out to people.

Would there be anything to stop me from buying two properties (5% dep each) and renting one of them out to people?

    Cigarettes rise by inflation +5%

Wine will rise by 10p a bottle, spirits by 38p a bottle and cider by 2p a pint.

The usual rubbish journalism by many media outlets.

Gideon announced these all last year. If the rise remained the same, he didn't mention it, he only mentioned the ones he changed. But these journos had weeks to get their act, have all the facts and spotted what he failed to mention

Isn't reducing beer duty favourtism considering the rises on other types of alcohol?

I thought 1p duty had been wiped from all alcohol which I cuoldn't quite underdstand considering the damage it does, but looks like it's just beer?

    U-turn ahead!?

There is a growing real ale market that I guess he wants to support. Loads of micro-breweries setting up all over the place and so on. Cutting duty on wine or spirits (apart from whisky I guess) wouldn't benefit the UK economy quite as much.

Is that correct, I thought Ossie said 'new properties'?

I hope so, changing all in line with the beer increase, that would stop the favoutitism. Personaly I don't like giving the government any more of my money that I have to, because they either spend it on groups like Common Purpose, diversity co-ordinators or trouser it themselves. If need more money, we could start with DFID & HS2 and pocket £50bn.

I'd like to know what my road tax is being spent on, because it sure ain't the roads.

PS For any pedants, I know about the Road Tax name change thanks.

The newly announced scheme is for all properties.

Seems like the "Help to Buy" scheme is for new builds up to £600,000 but the mortgage guarantee proposal is for all properties.

As always, the devil will be in the details when they are published.
