Have got about 40gig worth of video and photo's that I would like to store.
I am wondering whether it is worth investing in a separate storage drive or if I could find online storage for a reasonable charge.
I am with Virgin Media and wonder if they could store that amount ?
I dont really think that my 40gig would increase dramatically as its only family photo's and video.
Thanks:money:

The most you''ll get FOC is I think Google Drive at 5GB. Skydrive at 7GB.
The decision as to wheher to use cloud or local storage depends on your risk perception. If the house burns down or floods you could lose any local storage.
With archive material like this, I'd probably settle for making DVD's to store locally, then make a dupe and keep that off site should the worst happen. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
virgin have a free photo backup/print service.

an external hard disk, and a few dvd's cost very little, and give some backup resilience, if you leave the master copy on your c: drive.!!

if it is valuable store it on 2 or preferably or more separate devices.
Cloud/on-line, as a consumer, one really does not know where it is, how backend contracts are arranged. Just look at Mega Uploads. Also storage company X could be renting bluesnake storage as part of their grand plan. Now should i go broke, not pay my comms connection, have a bulldoser cut through my fibre then there are problems or losses. You can sign all the agreements you want, but sh.t happens. I'm not saying do not open a free one, just do not think of it as the best and only answer0 -
