The new system so far seems to be a waste of time, just like the old one.

I have been trying to get some answers from Shell regarding a deficit in my points value on my previous pluspoints card, it being somewhat 600+ points less than what it should be. Shell haven't disputed any of the points, all the details of transactions came from their own website, its just my balance went up by 200 points rather than 833 points over much of last year.

Since my balance has been transfered to my new card by some multiplication factor which I can't be bothered to work out now, I have made 2 more purchases of fuel and these haven't shown up at all.

Most of my fuel is purchased from Sainsbury's, and the Nectar points have been quite nicely turned into all the drinks needed at christmas :T, I have done this for about the last 3 or 4 years. For me Sainsbury's is usually cheapest, I had some occasions recently to use Shell as they were the cheapest, I always use the loyalty cards, but my loyalty is to my pocket.

  • driversclub.... seems like a re-branding exercise to shake off the bad publicity create by the pluspoints scheme.

When my new card arrived through the post I quickly registered on the web site and waited with keen anticipation to see if the new loyalty scheme was any better than its predecessor (pluspoints), but allas Shell haven't failed to disapoint me!!

The problem with the old scheme was that on many occasions points would fail to appear in your account. You then had to dig out your old receipts and post them to shell for them to credit to your account. I gather this was a national problem and their was even a spoof web site dedicated to this called "the great shellpluspoints swindle".... shell had it closed down for some strange reason.

So, the new scheme, any more reliable? NO in my opinion!!! A couple of weeks ago after having not seen a single point appear in my account despite numerous visits to shell service stations I posted my first batch of fuel receipts to the usual address. Today some of those transactions have appeared, the others? Who knows, gone to the great loyalty scheme in the sky no doubt.

I'm afraid my loyalty toward shell has been stretched to the limits, their schemes end up costing me more in phone calls and postage than I ever get back.

Rant over.... it's back to work for me and subsidised supermarket fuel! Thank goodness for the world super power that is Tesco.

I agree that collecting the shell points are a waste of time. My husband has been collecting for years and have NEVER EVER received any vouchers in return!

Also all the points seemed to have disappeared from converting from the old points to the V-Power points scheme! A complete a waste of time and money IMHO.

Rant over - now just need to find a Tesco that sells 99RON petrol around here...
