Such a doughnut! - Counterfeit Mac

I've been on ebay a few years now so I should have known better. When I first joined ebay I feel foul of some fake benefit products and vowed that I learned my lesson. Obviously not!

I bought a fake MAC lipstick on line for £3 + £4 postage. It was so very fake and I know I know, MAC doesn’t sell cheaply. A wave of madness I think!

Anyway sent it back yesterday recorded delivery. Cost me £3.15!! And I know I have no way of getting that money back.

Do I neg the seller? He said to me he got the stuff at auctions so didn’t know. But I’m not convinced. They have 100s of glowing feedback on other MAC products but im guessing people just haven’t realised yet.

What do you think?

  • It's a mortal sin. I've had negative feedback 2 days before christmas after being sent a message, "if I don't get it this afternoon, I'm leaving you bad feedback!"

If you are certain it is a fake, then neg them. Warn potential buyers.

I've never left negative feedback even when the item sold isn't as described etc. I would however, agree that you should leave a negative or neutral feedback to warn other customers that these are fakes simply for the reason the post above me states.

I bought a fake MAC from a fayre once (an eyeliner) and it wouldn't apply to my eye and when it did, it felt like a burning sensation and then wouldn't come off. I hope nobody else has to go through this with fake products. I wish I knew I was buying a fake before I bought it.
  • Well I sent it back on the 19th second class recorded
I've had a look at all his other feedback and he is selling ALOT of Mac items so I fear the line about getting stuff at an auction and not knowing it was fake is a lie.

I have seen MAC bundles at auction. In fact, there is an auction on Saturday which has 10 lots of MAC lipsticks.

Whilst I am not disputing that the OP did not have a genuine item, I just wanted to point out that genuine products can be bought at auction. In fact, I bought genuine Dior and Chanel perfume from an auction last year.
  • I can't be the first person who clicked on this thread expecting it to be about fake Chinese Apple MacBook Air knock-offs! e.g.:

Instead it's girly stuff. Not that MacBooks aren't for girls, mind you. As a bloke, I don't pay attention to lipstick or indeed your appearance at all. Sorry about that. But I have to know, is there a noticeable difference between fake lipstick and the real thing? Judging by some of the replies above, there is.

On a more serious note, it's the auctioneer's responsibility to check his own goods before selling it. I assume the happy responses are from people who don't care if it's fake or not - is this fake lipstick cheaper than the Tesco own-brand equivalent?

  • I know I know, MAC doesn’t sell cheaply.

Just to say, I know most cheap branded makeup on eBay is fake but for example, I won some benefit makeup and it was the wrong shade for my skin colour so I ebayed it starting at 99p and it was most definitely genuine. Mind you, I also provided my winner's letter with it so I could reassure the buyer...
