frequent power cuts complaint
Options
I'm billed by BG for my electricty, which I think is supplied by southern electric? The problem is in the past month we've had numerous power cuts some lasting hours. One episode lasted over most of the weekend. I'd like to complain as its not good enough really. Who should I complain to??
thanks

Had the same problem in my hometown, when i contacted the electricity supplier after 3 nights of power on, power off. I was informed that there had to be 5 power cuts, each lasting over 4 hours over a 1 year period before they would make a statutory £50 refund to all customers. Phone them direct and push it, you may get £50 back or what there statutory refund is.
Hope it helps......0 -
Complain to ofgem.
https://www.ofgem.gov.uk
Provide details (times etc) of all power outages, and, crucially, whether you were notified in advance of the outages.
Be reasonable, and ofgem will take your complaint seriously.
Ofgem will take up your complaint with the power company, and also ensure they contact you regarding the complaint.
You can try the Customer service department at your local distribution company (not your actual supplier), but they generally respond quicker if they know ofgem are involved.
I used to work for a distribution company, and know that ofgem complaints are fast-tracked because they ultimately have the power to financially penalise companies for poor performance.
Unfortunately, ranting and raving wont achieve much. Use the formal complaints procedure.I know nothing - really!!0 -

It would be the fault of the distribution company, not the company you pay the bill to.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
