Best way to fund new carpets and a kitchen?

Go to ikea and take out a finance deal for the kitchen.
As for carpet I would get those on a 0% interest for 12 months credit card. You pay the minimum every month and then after 12 months pay the outstanding balance at once. carpet from carpetright, underlay grippers etc online and local fitter.
I've been scouting the forum trying to find advice on underlay; as a general rule of thumb, should it cost the same or more than your carpet?!0 -
I found CarpetRight expensive, far cheaper to find a local carpet shop.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

There are a lot of 0% deals on credit cards at the moment, so why not put the kitchen on a 0% card and pay it off as quick as you can before the deal ends. Then it won't cost you any interest.
I have a huge credit limit, but I can't find a local specialist kitchen that will accept credit cards, and the likes of B&Q kitchens doesn't really appeal to me.Can you get a loan from the bank that does your mortgage? The rates are often very good, although there is an arrangement fee, which is quite hefty.
The problem with carpeting room by room is that if you have the same colour in adjacent rooms, they should be from the same roll, or they will not match. If you don't believe me, take a look at samplers in carpet shops. Some ostensibly identical samples might as well be different shades.
I would save up then move in. And be nice to mum and dad.
I suppose the kitchen is livable if your that way inclined, it's just I have the whole house to a fantastic standard (including tailor made fitted wardrobes, king size beds, updated bathroom etc.) so it just seems a shame to put up with a manky old vinyl kitchen any longer than necessary.
If I were to take out a £6000 loan over 3 years, I would repay around £180-190 a month - after all bills I would be left with £800 disposable income a month.
In those terms I can afford the loan, it just seems so unnatural to me to borrow money! Perhaps its an OCD!
I appreciate the comments anyway, I'll get the kitchen floor tiles down and take it from there.0 -

I ordered my kitchen from Magnet Trade and paid for that with an interest free credit card. I preferred to put up with an old kitchen while I saved up rather than put in a cheap one as a short term fix.0 -
Perfection takes time and patience
:(Unless you can afford it, hence I'm still trying

4 years interest free? I'd tear their hand off -assuming that the carpets are not overpriced in the first place. No free lunch, and no free laptop

We've had a bare concrete hallway and dining room for c6months over winter whilst we decorate (new flooring is actually being delivered today!!!). Before that, for 6 months over summer the dining room was a makeshift kitchen (we remade some of the kitchen units in there as cupboards and work surface) and our kitchen was various stages of building site/shell whilst it was being done. It's been tough but not that great a hardship really and it is going to be worth it.
Re the credit, only take the interest free option if 1) you're certain you have a repayment mechanism at the end of the interest free period and 2) that the costs of the interest free aren't built into the purchase price.0 -

Look at tradepriced.co.uk and pick the best underlay you can afford. cloud 9 is quality. that way if your carpet is a bit on the cheaper side it still feels nice and lasts. Get the grippers and tape from them as well or screwfix.
Carpet just go carpetrite and haggle a bit as well. I think if you only buy carpet from them it's ok priced. It's the extras that they really over charge you.
Then get your own fitter and ask if he'll pick up the carpet as well from them- carpetrite charge a bit for that.
