NCP car park

Sorry if this has been answered before, fee; free to point me in the right direction.

What is the legal requirement for firms to show the cost of parking?

I went to Brighton the other day and without thinking turned into the entrance. Outside there is no indication as to the cost to park....

The trouble is that you then drive down a narrow one way access road about 20m before you get to the barrier..to then see the extortionate prices. At which point you're screwed, you cant choose to not agree to the charge as you cant exit.

I'm trying to complain but it would be good to know the exact legislation that they have broken (if any)

cheers.

Car-parks like that should have some sort of grace period where if you get a ticket and drive straight back out, they should let you out without paying if you don't agree to the charges.

To be fair I did exactly the same in another car park, I got a ticket from the machine and drove straight back out with no charge.

The BPA Code of Practice has such a grace period and NCP have to let you out or fall foul of the BPA Code they are signed up to. Find the COP on the BPA website.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
