HSBC called to tell me i cannot claim

I received a call tonight from HSBC advising that the letter i sent from this forum about requesting my bank charges back wasnt valid and they wouldn't be offering me any reimbursement.
i sent them the templated letter from this forum, but they are saying that the charges on my account are valid and the bank won the court ruling to confirm this.
i said i wasnt happy and would be looking to move to a different bank and she offered me, as a gesture of goodwill, to repay the last couple of charges which equates to £72.
was this telephone call a move by the bank to limit or deter me from requesting my money back or should i take the £72 and leave it?
i have been charged about £1350 over the last few years.

Were you claiming due to financial hardship, or that you believe the charges to be unfair? If the latter they are right - you're far too late.0

Any redress under the current financial hardship rule would probably only be for the last 6 months max anyway.0

The bank won the court case and are under no obligation to repay you anything. The offer of a refund of two months charges is what they judge keeping your custom is worth. Transfer your account to another bank by all means but be aware that if you then run up charges there and request a refund you are likely to receive the same response.0
