Hello all.. i wonder if someone can please help?
i have a 51 plate ka that is great, it has not let me down and the mot is due september - the only reason I am thinking about changing is for slightly more space and a bit bigger for the motorway driving i do.
I have seen a lovely family owned ford focus.. it is a t reg with 12 months mot, really lovely car... it has 118k miles - the chap wanted 695 for it but i have got him down to 550 so chuffed with that.
My questions are as follows and I am driving myself insane with worrying if I am doing the right thing....
My ka has only done 62k miles and is a 51 plate.. is it ok to have a lot older car with more miles or am I being daft..
Should I hold on to my ka that has never let me down and my mechanic who has looked after it for the 3yrs I have owned it says it is fine rust wise and mechanically great... but I just need a little bit more space and really fancy the focus.. it is a local car and the family have just bought another one so need the room and the money.... help.....:(

Much as I like Focuses (or is that Foci?) you appear to have a solid Ka (which are suprisingly OK on motorways) that is costing you nowt. Hang on to it and leave the Focus hunt until something expensive goes wrong with the Ka.

"Better the devil you know "as they say.
In my case, I would never change a car with low mileage for one with a much higher mileage. You may be lucky, but who knows.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Depends on the engine. I had 150,000 miles on my old 2L petrol mondeo. It still ran sweetly. No issues, I just needed an estate at the time.

Why are you selling a 51 plate and buying an older T plate?

KA is worth more than a focus. People want small cars so they hold their prices better.
I paid just over £2000 for a 5 year old Mondeo. This is my 3rd now.

Costs me about £700 in the last 3 years, Servicing, Mots and upgrades.
