Just a quick one folks:
The other half has agreed to get a second AMEX chargecard in my name.
They've sent us a form to fill out to agree to be jointly, and severally liable, which is fine.
Does this generate a credit check on the second cardholder? Thanks!

They have told me - definitely not0

Hmm.... I'm not so sure. I applied recently for a supplementary platinum cash back credit card for my girlfriend. They asked for proof of ID and address (certified copy of passport and a utility bill).
I'm not sure if they conducted a crdit check, per se, but it wasn't as simple as I thought it would be. Then again, there might be a difference between the charge and credit cards.0 -
They have categorically told me (today, funnily enough) that NO credit check is performed for supplementary holders. An ID check may be but this is not a credit search or visible to other lenders.0

I have just added my 18 year old onto mine. Called on their 18th. Card will be here within days. No mention credit check. I 'might' have to sign a form. Charge card.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -

No credit check, in theory there should be an ID check. I say in theory because I added an overseas person and was told over the phone to use my address rather than theirs and when the automatic ID check fails I'd just need to send a scan of their passport but they just sent the card without asking for the ID.
It also doesnt create a financial association with the CRAs0 -

It often depends on what you put as your relationship with them. They rarely ever do a id check on family.0 -

I was just going by what they said over the phone, the persons legal name was too long to fit on a card and the online form didnt give me any choice on how to truncate it hence going to the phone0
