Hi
im trying to hard wire Wii to the router so im not using it wirelessly as some one here suggested i try it wired as it kept coming up with insufficient bandwith messages when using bbc i player. ive now purchased a usb to ethernet adaptor (USB LAN) but when using this the wii doesnt recognise an internet connection? (it does wirelessly)
The adaptor has come with a mini disc that says driver on, which doesnt run on my laptop, i get a message saying please insert disc, but even if it did recognise the disc, how would it work as i need the adaptor to work on the wii not the laptop?
any advice? have i bought the wrong adaptor?
thanks
Edited to add--- ive tested the adaptor on my laptop and turned the wireless off, and it works fine...but why does it not work on the wii???

There is nothing wrong with the internal Wi-Fi adaptor from a performance viewpoint, so a 3rd party one won't make any difference even if it were possible to treat the Wii like a Windows based PC and load drivers for whatever hardware you like.
Insufficient bandwidth is down to either a slow internet connection, or a poor wireless connection speed between the Wii and the router.
If it's the latter, either move the Wii closer to the router or boost the router output by means of hi-gain antennas.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car

my internet connection is around 30 mbps download speed, by bt infinity fibre...my laptop is wireless connected and sits further away from the router than the wii and it never looses or drops connection!
i started a thread about this recently and was advised hardwiring should resolve this issue so i bought the lan adaptor.
anyway, doing some googling reveals that the lan adaptor must be a wii supported one so thats probably why mines isnt working .
my router does have a usb connection, i wonder if an internet connection can be made with a usb cable from router to wii? i havent got a usb cable to test it with!0 -
