Does any one do all their shopping at Lidl?

I spend part of the week in a town that has a Waitrose and a Lidl. So I shop at Lidl. I'm happy with the veg, and they do fair size sacks of white spuds.
The only thing I do find disappointing is their bread.0 -
I would say no you cannot do all your shopping at Lidl -perhaps 80%. BUT I think you can do a whole shop in Aldi if you have one nearby.
Aldi in my area hold much more stock than Lidl and good ranges such as Italian, Chinese and Mexican food goods."Thou shalt not forget that money is only money and not character or fame.”

I don't need the million varieties of everything.... so YES Lidl suits me, and whilst their fruit and veg quality remains, and their prices are the same or lower than the big supermarkets...then YES it will stay as my main shop.0

It depends on where you live and when you shop on the quality of the fruit/veg.
Mine looks really good and a good selection but it is the cutting into it that lets it down also it does not stay fresh for long
I want quality vegetables that keep for many days and are edible/usable when you cut into them!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Within a mile of my house we're blessed with a sainsburys, lidl, B&M, Homebargains,Iceland and Aldi. As OH works for sainsburys I keep a very close eye on prices less 10% staff discount. We have almost halved our weekly shop by going to Homebargains first then Aldi and finally sainsburys for the final few bits. As we're time rich, money poor this works for us. However to answer the OP question, I don't think you can do your entire weekly shop at lidl. For us I'd say about 60% at lidl whereas about 80% at Aldi. We could just do Aldi and sainsburys but things like Dove deodorant etc are so much cheaper at Homebargains but they don't sell it at Aldi. Like others have said I suppose it depends on what you eat. Our Aldi is fantastic for fresh fruit & veg and their meat is excellent both on quality and cost. XGrocery challenge June 2016

Lidl is great, its very popular in west-european countries and germans have always high standard of quality products. Of course you can find there cheap rubbish food as everywhere, but its never that bad as cheap asda food. I do all our shopping in Lidl, Aldi and few bits in asda.0

I use a variety of stores I tend to follow the bargains and stick rigidly to my list. I use Aldi and Lidl, Iceland, Morrisons, and Tesco, Home bargains, and Poundland. I also make full use of any available coupons. Fortunately I am now retired hence plenty of time to shop around, with the aid of my free bus pass, another benefit it gets me out of the house.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

However, the quality of most Lidl & Aldi is above smart price quality, IMHO.
I don't know why people knock them - if you don't like them, go somewhere else and spend more.
The other thing I like is to know what the offers are before going there - I find that really useful in planning what to buy.
So, in answer to the OP - yes, you can buy 95% of your shopping there, depending on whether you have unusual tastes/special dietary requirements. I find the quality (including fruit and veg) to be more than acceptable - although it does vary by store.
And apparently, Aldi's UK customer numbers are up 30% and Lidl's up 12% - so obviously more people are thinking this way.
Totally agree! I don't think Lidl are ultra cheap compared to say Tesco but its not a fair comparison because in my opinion Tesco own food is diabolical so the comparison is with at least Sainsburys best or main brands, and Lidl are very good value.
That said I have been to Tesco yesterday for some odd things because I go there so rarely they send books of discount vouchers for the things I buy there to try and entice me back. So I just go and buy the stuff in my book of vouchers and nothing else - sorry Tesco! :rotfl:0 -
....the one item i find hit and miss is spuds, but apart from them cannot fault them.
I have to own up to being a tater-cheater.
I buy the 15p Large tin of New Potatoes (Lidl's are better than Aldi's) and make them into crushed, mashed, sauted, or whatever. The best bit is not having to peel them.0 -
Before going organic last year I used Lidl for 70% of my shopping, ASDA for 20% and Waitrose for 10% once a month.
Lidl does organic milk, cheese, yogurt, pasta, onions, carrots and bananas but not enough stuff to keep us in food every week. If they did I'd be happy cos I'd save loads.
I can recommend Lidl as a deli, also for fruit and veg and washing powder. I'm sure prices have gone up because things like chablis have appeared and turkey ravioli and huge tins of chicken soup have disappeared.
If everyone has less money then if you're a cheap discounter surely the way to make money is to go after the people downsizing not the people cutting back on cheapo noodles ?0
