Does any one do all their shopping at Lidl?

Money is now extremely tight in my household since i was made redundant 2 weeks ago.

I have started to go to Lidl, and I wondered if it is possible to buy everything I need there. (last week I went to Mr T afterwards and ending up spending a further £16.00) :o

I've sometimes done all my shopping between Lidl and Aldi, but I do need to do the odd trip to a larger supermarket for things like chick peas. It depends what you tend to eat on a regular basis, I suppose.

Lidl and Aldi have ceased to be that cheap these days and their fruit & veg is not that good, the only way to save money is to check all the major stores for best offers and scan the reduced shelves.

We do about 85% of our shopping at Lidl (2 adults), there are only a few bits that I get elsewhere. Do go to Sainsburys and my local co-op for the other bits but tend to also buy stuff on offer and yellow label there.

Agree Lidl prices have increased but so has everyone else's!

I still believe that lidl remains cheaper than the supermarkets, prices have gone up everywhere. So walking around lidl you can see the price increase but then try looking in t's for example-total joke.

Anyway op i have done a weeks shop in lidl but it depends if you want certain meals. If your not too fussed and go in without a list you can pick up a weeks worth of stuff easily.
I prefer the fruit & veg in lidl and it is cheaper. I also recommend the smoked fish (trout, mackeral)

I tend to spend about £30 or so in lidl every fortnight and the rest of the stuff i pick up are bargains i find in the supermarkets or butchers/markets.

The fruit and veg debate happens every time the lidl/aldi words are mentioned lol
It depends on where you live and when you shop on the quality of the fruit/veg.

It varies massively from store to store for some reason. Aldi is generally better overall (in my experience) but my local Lidl is really good so I buy lots of my fruit and veg there.

If you're happy with the supermarket value ranges then I would suggest sticking to supermarkets for most stuff as in my experience the only things cheaper in Lidl are things you don't get value versions of (ie milk).

What many people don't know is that as well as price competition between the big supermarkets - particularly Asda & Tesco, there is also competition between Smart Price and Lidl and Aldi.

However, the quality of most Lidl & Aldi is above smart price quality, IMHO.

I don't know why people knock them - if you don't like them, go somewhere else and spend more.

The other thing I like is to know what the offers are before going there - I find that really useful in planning what to buy.

So, in answer to the OP - yes, you can buy 95% of your shopping there, depending on whether you have unusual tastes/special dietary requirements. I find the quality (including fruit and veg) to be more than acceptable - although it does vary by store.

And apparently, Aldi's UK customer numbers are up 30% and Lidl's up 12% - so obviously more people are thinking this way.
