I never understand why there is so much resistant by the OPs to writing a letter on these loan broker scam threads. Are these people so useless that they are incapable of even addressing an envelope?

People don't like writing letters these days. E mails and phone calls are quick and cheap; and you only have to look at the standard of English grammar and spelling on these boards to understand why some posters are very reluctant to put pen to paper.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

    Thanks for the dig.

The reason I'm not writing a letter is that I'm trying to stop the charge before it actually goes through, a letter wouldn't arrive in time.

The letter isn't designed to stop the payment, it is to cancel the agreement and retrieve the payment.

I take it you have checked your bank account today. What did the bank say? even if it isn't out already, they should see it pending by now.

Just off the phone to my bank, they said I have to contact the lender. Will be phoning them as soon as I can.

You have already been told by a number of posters that you need to write to cancel the agreement - why do you insist on wasting money on a phone call that will achieve nothing?

You can try either but you authorised the transaction so expect it to be claimed anyway.

Ive bolded the vitals, should be clear now.

You need to follow their own T&C's on how to refund the money, this will involved writing to them within a specified time period, not email, not phonecall but write to them in the particular clause in their T&C's

They can withhold £5 of the amount as an admin charge.

Are you kidding me? Please continue facepalming yourself...i've already stated 'I'm trying to stop the charge BEFORE it goes through' not after. Surely there are ways, and since I haven't technically used their services as no lenders have contacted me, it is surely my right to cancel the contract.

I read both, i'm seeming like a proper idiot here but i'm definitely sure there will be a way to stop said transaction before it is withdrawn...all the reply s I have been given point the direction to go after it has already been taken.

You have entered the contract, therefore you need to cancel the contract by following the company's procedure for doing this.

They are not just going to roll over and say "OK we won't take your money". They will take your money and then force you through hoops to get it back.

What you don't seem to understand is that these companies make their money by making it as difficult as possible for people to claim their money back, in the hope that most will give up.

You can't expect your bank to not pay a transaction you've authorised. We'd all be doing it if you could. :rotfl:
