    I was the same. Excellent credit record, high earner but couldnt get a loan anywhere.

    Added up all my credit cards and it came to almost £100K available (even thoug outstanding was only about £5K). Closed down a load - still got about £45K but managed to get loan recently.

    Available credit is definitely a problem sometimes...
