how long does a local search take?

We are buying a house that is vacant and are effectively FTB.
We had the offer accepter last week of january. puahed conveyancers today for a completion date as we are eager to get in and she says the local search wnt be ready till 28th march so we can exchange and complete then but will be held up if anything comes up on search.
anyone know why the local search will have taken so long? is this normal? before i go back all guns blazing!

    It really depends when your conveyancer applied for the local search and each local authority take different amount of time to return them. Not knowing where you are buying can't really comment further

    Depends on the LA. Vetween 3 days and 6 weeks from when they receive the forms. Ring your council and ask.

    It is possible, in some places, if somebody's not on holiday, to walk in with the form and sit and wait for it.

  • Some local councils have the info on their website as to what their usual turnaround time is for searches, maybe worth having a look?
