Text onto a picture.

Can anyone tell me please,..........

How do I insert text onto a picture?

I have landscape pictures and want to put a verse onto the picture but still have the background visible from behind the text.

Any picture editing software will do, including Paint.
Open it in Programs->Accessories->Paint
Open your picture (File->Open), add text (click the "A" in the toolbar on the left), click on the picture where to add text, type your text, then save the picture.

Thanks, but I tried that and it left the text in a white box on the landscape background.

Any idea what I've done wrong?

When you created the textbox, two colourful icons appear at the bottom of the toolbar on the left. Click the bottom icon.

You could use a program that create watermark on pictures.There are a lot available on the web.
