Boiler Prices

Hello

I have had quotes from a company recommended to me by my plumber for replacing the boiler in my flat with a combi boiler and I would like to know if the prices I have been quoted are competitive.

I live in London, NW1.

They have quoted for two options:

option one:

Main eco 25 elite combi boiler

we need to ulter lots of pipes work, take out the megaflo and boiler re run the new pipes work, install new 22mm inta magnaclean and 15mm calmac scale master to the system fit the new boiler and commisioning the boiler with one year pipes work warranty and boiler come with 2 years warranty (part and labour) from potterton total cost to you is £2150.00 include vat and all the material

option two:

vaillant ecotec plus 824 with all above with 7 years part and labour warranty total cost to you is £2500.00

I think I would go with the Vaillant for the peace of mind that the 7 year warranty gives, but I am keen to know if that is a good price or not?

Grateful for any advice that I receive.

We had the Vaillant ectotec plus installed last September. It sounds like we had a similar amount of work done to what you have had quoted. That is also about the price we paid for our new boiler.

We have had no problems with it. Loving having hot water on tap. Our last system was rather knackered.

I'm having the existing boiler - a main condensing boiler - and a megaflo system taken out (this is far too large for a one-bed flat). Also, the pipework is a mess and very disorganised, not to mention takes up a lot fo space. So they are also going to remove and simplify this.

So all is in good working order? You just want to free up the space?

Vaillant every time, but for the 7 year warranty it must be installed by a Vaillant approved installer.
  • No, its not in good working order and it is an unsuitable system for the type of property we have. Because we are losing the Megaflo tank we will gain the space taken up by it's 'footprint' and have lower bills too.

please don't take this the wrong way, but is that exactly how they worded the quote ?
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

I think you will miss the quality of an unvented hot water system?

A Combi is also unlikely to be more efficient than the existing also IMO.
