Why have you waited 5 years to take this matter forward?[/QUOTE]
because I'm lazy & disorganised and being in debt when you have no money is scary!
I'm trying to sort this out now, one way or anotherDan :beer:0 -
There's nothing to sort out though is there ? You chose not to repay your overdraft so a default was applied, correctly.
Barclays don't have to answer your questions about what happened with the cheques, it was resolved as far as your account was concerned, what exactly are you trying to "sort out" ?0 -
meer53,
If it wasn't for the fraud or mistake on my account it would still be open now, I see it as fraud as money was both put in and taken out of my account without my knowledge or consent - if it was a banking error then why hasn't barclays admitted that? All I wanted was a straight answer about who was using my account which barclays are responsible for facilitating without my knowledge. At no time have they said it was a banking error, in fact what they said was "we can't touch this", which is cause for suspicion in my book. If everything is so above board where is they explanation? I wanted to keep the account open and to continue to pay into it but thanks to a fraudster or Barclay's incompetance I was asked to pay it all off ( which I accept is fair enough if it wasn't fraud or banking errors that were the catalyst for this).Dan :beer:0 -

Would it. Clearly you were in the O/D and must have only just have been clearing a small bit off each month.dcotterill wrote: »I see it as fraud as money was both put in and taken out of my account without my knowledge or consent -
Were these cheques from one of your old books?
Had you ever stopped a book as lost?
Cheques debit account. Their credit team will have picked up you do not have the funds to pay them and will have returned payment stopped.dcotterill wrote: »if it was a banking error then why hasn't barclays admitted that? Odds on no one knows who has presented these cheques.
How can it of been a banking error?
Cheques all have account number on them.dcotterill wrote: »I wanted to keep the account open and to continue to pay into it but thanks to a fraudster or Barclay's incompetance I was asked to pay it all off ( which I accept is fair enough if it wasn't fraud or banking errors that were the catalyst for this).
You need to have a look close to home as to who may have used one of your books...
As you are aware they had the right to withdraw the o/d at any point.
If these cheques caused it. You will never know. But it will have highlighted the account to the credit team and the ywill have taken the decision based on how the account was being run and how your other accounts were being run.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
