Ex making credit apps from my address
pizzy
An ex is making credit applications using my address. He's been gone since July, and would not have any recent post from this address. I have returned post to his bank and know they have a "gone away" marker on his account. The three applications I am aware of have been successful.
Can anyone suggest what steps I can take to prevent this happening. I have contacted Experian and Equifax about having a note put on credit searches from this address. Anything else I can do to prevent what will probably be defaulted credit agreements?

Credit and credit-applications are linked to people not addresses, so whatever this numpty ex decides to do it will not affect your own credit-file. So stop worrying about it.0

Floss, I know because his "good friends" have told me so, and because of phone calls that have come here. Obviously I have told organisations that he's not living here but that doesn't seem to be making much difference.
Bitterandtwisted....i realise that it won't impact on me as its in his name....but its the damned cheek of the man. I am a sensitive soul and don't really like the thought of him getting away with credit fraud (in my opinion) effectively by using this address. Makes a bit of a mockery of credit checks etc when he wouldn't be able to prove this address as his, as he no longer on the electoral role, his bank has him down as "gone away" and hes defaulted on only bills he has had since he left here. Hey ho...I shall breath deeply and let him get on with it.
Thank you for your thoughts

Ah now that isn't quite true though, if the credit agencies or whoever have reason to link you with that person, i.e. if you have had joint bank accounts etc in your names at that address.
And, it is the OP who will have to deal with the baliffs when they turn up (or the Police, depending what he is up to.) My ex did this to me. The people who lived in the house before me also did this to me - they were still having stuff delivered to my house from the flipping Littlewoods catalogue - WHY???
It's not something to dismiss so lightly when you have been there and had a lot of grief from it.Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Eh, if the OP had a joint bank account with the ex I'm sure they would have mentioned it. No point in having a "gone away" marker on the ex's bank account otherwise.0

Maybe you need to consider why they are telling you, and also why you are reacting to the information.
His actions (whatever they are) will bother you for as long as you let them.
BTW, have you considered changing your number so any creditors cannot contact you by phone? It's the first thing I did when my ex left, swiftly followed by changing the locks and then moving house.0
