Hi guys,
I'm looking to upgrade my mobile phone, looking for an unlocked phone, or one that can be easily unlocked. Ideally want to spend around £150 and definitly no more than £200.
At the minute I have a nokia 5530 which I've had for over 3 years and honestly if it had 3G i probably wouldn't be replacing it.
I don't need all that much, but fast and sleek is pretty important. I'd like it to have GPS, but not overly worried about a good camera as long as it can take pictures. I think I'd prefer an Android OS for functionality and apps.
The HTC Desire X seems like a possibility, does anyone has any thoughts or opinions?
Thanks in advance

Another option would be samsung ace 2.
Nokia Lumia 620 at similar price, but it is windows phone.0 -
Sony Xperia U - dual core 1GHZ processor, sleek, nice build.
Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 - slightly larger screen than above but slower processor and cheaper feel build/looks.
HTC Desire X - bigger screen than both of above, dual core 1GHZ processor, looks nice.
Read reviews. GSMarena.com is the bible of mobiles.0 -

Personally preference ACE 2 (mobile internet speed) > Desire X (longer battery life) > Xperia U0 -
Thanks guys, I think for me battery is probably more important than internet speed tbh.
I'd also like one with a battery that can be replaced. I was able to get additional batteries cheap for my Nokia and it was really handy when I knew I was going to be away for several weeks with no power.
The Xperia U looks pretty and seems to be best on paper, but I'm not sure about sonys. I also don't think you can add storage so your stuck with the 8Gb that it's got, only 4 of which is user assessable ( it's stats like that, that make comparisons tricky haha). I have a 16GB card in my phone atm though and it's pretty much full of music. I've been looking at a few comparison sites but some of them seem to contradict each other, overall there doesn't seem to be much in it.
I can get the Desire X for £189 at Asda right now and that seems like a good bet. I am totally open to suggestions though, I think first hand experiences and opinions are often far better than review sites where they've played with a brand new phone for a single day.0 -

Don't go sony if you want battery life. I heard ppl complaint about its short battery.0 -
Hmm, guess it's looking like the desire x then. Unless there are any other suggestions.
Thanks guys
Appreciate it0 -
just a bit of a daft question, why are you looking to buy a phone when you could probably get a free one on a £20 p/m contract?0
-
Because i already have the calls and texts sorted, and I'd rather spend the money in one go when i have it than commit to paying a larger amount each month.
I have signed up for a deal posted on hotdealsuk, where I get 250mins, 5000text, 500mb of data for £7.50 a month. With a free Samsung Galaxy Y (Which I don't intend to use) and 20 months free by redemption.
So even if I don't get the redemption the total cost for £24 months with the Desire X is only £15/month.0 -
A few months ago my work Blackberry died and the boss told me to go and buy a phone rather than wait for a replacement.
I ended up buying a payg HTC Radar it cost £99 but I also had to have a £10 top up on the sim that I didn't need so £109. It has Windows Mobile on it and I have to say it has impressed me.
Despite getting fair use it doesn't need charging as often as my Samsung Galaxy S2 and does everything I need it to really well.
It made me wonder why on earth I paid over £400 for my own mobile.

Well I ordered the Desire X, didn't want to miss out on the price Asda were offering.
But still open to other suggestions as I can still return it if something better comes along.
Thanks all0
