Mac G4 - suppport in the NW required

I have just tried to upgrade my G4 with Tiger, memory and a new dual processor. Memory and OS working fine but i can't get machine to boot up with new processor installed. Put the old one back in and it works fine.

Reading the notes i think i should have booted it up on 9.2 first ie before i installed the new OS - but i didn't. Mac hardware is clearly not my 'thing' so i think i have spent enough time on it and need someone to do it for me.

Can you anyone recommend anyone that offers Mac support in the North West please ie Manchester, Stockport even over to Leeds or Sheffield.

Your mac may not be capable of running a dual-processor G4. Depends how old it is. Have a look here before you pay anyone anything.

Essentially your uni-north ASIC revision needs to be >= 7 before you can install a dual-processor card. If your uni-n revision is OK then you may need to update your firmware instead - this can only be done from OS9 on G4 macs AFAIK.
