Anglian gold account overpayments

  • I just wondered if the original question on here had been answered about paying off the gold account early. We were also told that we needed to keep it for 13 months but can't see anything in the Anglian T&Cs

That alone should ring major alarm bells whatever the marketing BS and hype that runs alongside it.

    Cheers

I'm in the same position: was told by the salesman we had to keep the gold account for a year. Yet on contacting Anglian head office the person I spoke to knew nothing about this and said I could pay it any time and keep the discount. Hitachi who the finance is with said that there is only minimal early repayment penalties (one months interest). Not paid mine off yet, might call Anglian again and see if the person I speak to says any different.

I bought my windows from Anglian on account and paid everything but a £1 off in one go (something to do with an early repayment fee on the remaining balance). Paid off no problem

Thats the key. Pay off a large chunk leaving only a small residue to run the course of the agreement. Its the same with paying off a loan. Never pay the whole thing off as you'll get massive fees.

    Cheers

So can I ask if you got the discount taken off Kiran? I am in the same position having paid of a lump already but have some outstanding. Now what we are interested in is how quickly we can get it paid off.

No they didn't take back the discount. The contract sum goes to Anglian, the finance will be with someone else. Esentially Anglian are prepared to sell you the windows at that price and that is all they receive. The interest payments only go to the finance company not to Anglian.
