My iPhone 5 usb power cable no longer works. Can I just take it into an Apole shop to replace it for free??
Can I just walk into the shop and do this?

Apple will always honour stuff if less than 12 months old, the lightning cable was first released with the iphone 5 in september, so there is no way your cable is older than 12 months old. I would take it into the Apple store and ask for a replacement0

Did you buy from Apple or get it from a network provider as an upgrade or new connection?
Bought it from O2. I have apple care insurance also.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

If you bought it from O2 then it's them, as the retailer, whom you need to ask to replace it.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I bought my son a 5th gen iPod from Amazon for christmas but it stopped charging a couple of weeks ago. I emailed Apple and they arranged for me to take in to my local Apple store where they gave me a brand new one. I was pretty impressed with them.0

Give O2 a call and they will replace it (as someone else has also said).Probably will not get anywhere with Apple.
I've just done this with Vodafone for my Galaxy S3 charger as they have a one year warranty on accessories. O2 will have the same and even if not then it is reasonable to expect your cable to last for the length of your contract so just state your case. I'm pretty certain they will sort it out quickly for you though.0
