One Tel problems

I just tried to sign up for the One Tel offer and they rejected me because they said I had been registered previously. Whilst this is technically correct because I signed up to their dialler some years ago, it didn't work with my cordless phones and I returned the dialler and cancelled the contract, so I didn't in fact use their service. I just rang them, and they had the usual automated morons on the other end.. They just didn't seem to understand what I was trying to tell them. So I'll just stick with 18866/1899.

I have read in another post somewhere that if you sign up using a mobile it actually allows you to sign up for the free evening/weekend package and then once registered just add your house number on.

I can't say that this'll work but what have you got to lose?

I have just spoken to One Tel and persuaded them that my last contract was cancelled and they have now resumed my service. Having said that I put all the details on their website and on the last page it told me that the site was down for maintenance!! So I requested a call back which was instant. Unfortunately it was from India and I had quite a jiob convincing them that I now had a BT line, as I had an ntl line previously ( same number) and they insisted on sending me a PhonePal dialler box. I finally persuaded them that I did in fact have a BT line, didn't ned the dialler, and I think they understood!! It will now take 15 days to get it set up. One thing I would like to know is, can I use the service in conjunction with 18866/18799. I only intend to use One Tel at weekends so I guess I forsake 18866/1899 at weekends and just dial the normal number, and I presume for local calls you don't use the dialling code?

I am assuming by this post that you have not signed for the free year of evening and w/end calls offer with the £20 credit but just the free w/end calls?

If yes, then use 18866/1899 at other times with their over-ride codes and you need use no code when dialing through Onetel at the w/ends.

Thanks. I knew I read about someone using the mobile number trick but couldn't remember what they used it for.
