Microsoft forcing me from hotmail into outlook

Microsoft have lost the plot as far as on-line mail is concerned, nothing wrong with re branding but in many cases they are forcing people to use an inferior item.
Now I use Outlook on a windows 8 laptop with a bridge I downloaded from Microsoft this allows Outlook to act like the old live mail that was in W7. But I would have preferred to use the live mail, which was one of the good features of W7 which has been lost with W8.
I no longer use the Outlook app on andriod that replaced the excellent Hotmail app because the Outlook one is useless. One font size HUGE and only access to one account, not one at a time, one in total!
Whether I access Outlook.com or Hotmail.com I really do not care what i do want are useful tools that help me do what I do not frustrating nonsense that some ponce with no life thinks looks good but has no practical application or just leaves the end user frustrated.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -

Is it just Outlook? What happens when you reply to messages on this very forum for instance? Does it spellcheck in US English or UK English.
(Right-clicking in a multi-line text box like the post editor on here will show which Languages are installed in Firefox, if any)
To check the language in the Outlook.com website, from your Inbox, click on the cog-wheel thing at the top-right of the page and select "More Email Settings". In the Options screen which comes up, on the right-hand side (under Customizing Outlook) there should be an option called "Language"; try this and see which language is selected.
Thanks I have set the radio button to switch from US English to British English,
That is a small step in the right direction.
I have also reset the font to Times New Roman from what ever the default must have been and increased the font size to match MSE
But where is the "rich text" / HTML on line editor option.
The present offering in not as bad as going back to the Telex machine I used 40 years ago, but it still feels like an electric typewriter - I must be missing something.??
I don't want my forwarded emails looking like this, where have the pictures and formatting gone:

Ah having wasted a considerable amount of time, I have proved the successor to Hotmail, will work correctly if I use internet explorer as my browser, but not when I use Firefox.
I really don't want to get into a war for users between Microsoft and Mozilla, but does anyone know what I have to tweek in Firefox ?0 -
Personally I'm seriously hacked off at the 'we can't connect to outlook at the moment' messages, the continuous rolling dots that suggest it's trying to load but really it does nothing and the lag that's involved almost every time I try to see my email.
I loathe it.
Me too. I lost my contact list for weeks. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hotmail > Outlook = dump both
MSN Messenger > Skype = dump both0 -
Gah where do I start? Hated the new UI its not at all obvious where you're supposed to enter text, but got used to it eventually. Can't say it's an improvement, it's just different.
Now due to email virus I'm locked out of the account, in the old Hotmail you could enter a backdoor password to gain access but in the new Outlook you have an automated system that attempts to verify you.. and fails. "Unfortunately, our automated system has determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership."
So bascially I'm locked out of my email, apparently for good.
Whatever happened to "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"Microsoft have lost the plot as far as on-line mail is concerned
.
they seem to have lost the plot in general lately
edit: well basically due to unsuccesful attempts to recover my email I've been told to basically open a new Hotmail account by MS.
Well thanks a bunch. I guess I'll do that... with anyone except Hotmail/Microsoft. :mad:0 -

I blundered about and tweeked some settings in outlook and that made it compatible with Firefox so that what you see on the screen is what you forward.
Rocketmail.com , which pre-dates hotmail, still works like hotmail - it belongs to Yahoo.0
