My new printer has just ran out of black ink. First set of cartridges came with the printer - Epsons own. I have a set of compatibles. Is there anything I should know about replacing the cartridges? What process should I follow and I replacing all the colours or just the black ink? Thank you.

Didnt the printer come with instructions on how to change the ink or is there nothing on the epson web siteMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

I have the same printer.
Just replace the Black one, it will tell you when the other need doing. That is the big advantage of Epsons, you just replace the ones that run out individually.European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -
Thank you sillygoose. Will do that.
neilwoods I have all the instructions that came with the printer. Because I am going to use the compatible inks - I wanted to be sure I was doing it right and not to have a situation like others have had where the printer won't print once they have changed a cartridge.0 -
I have this same printer and use compatible ink from King of Flash. I tried another compatible ink and it would not print. I had to keep cleaning the nozzles without joy and then another colour ran out. Same problem! I was anxious that I had ruined my printer for good, but I ordered my usual ink and soon got it working again.
So, lifting the lid, taking out the old cartridge and replacing it is easy - providing you have a 'good' compatible ink cartridge to replace it.
Good luck...0 -
An ink cartridge is an ink cartridge, they all go in the same way. Just some are so bad, they can destroy your printer.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

In May 2012 I bought an Epson SX445W and began to use cheapcompatible ink cartridges bought on Amazon. These contained very little ink andtherefore did not last long, the colours only weighed 0.9oz and the black1.0oz. Within 3 months these had wrecked the printer but fortunately the shopexchanged it under the 1 year guarantee in August 2012.
In my new printer I purchases slightly more expensive compatiblecartridges from Foxy Inks http://www.foxyinks.com/epson-stylus-sx445w-ink-cartridges-c-62_166_319.htmlI immediately noticed that they weighed more, colours 1.1oz and black 1.2oz. Alsoif there are were any issues you can easily contact Foxy by email from theirwebsite.
In September our daughter also got an Epson SX445W to use atUniversity and is using the same cartridges. We have found the Foxy cartridgesto be long lasting and filled with high quality ink. Also the price hasrecently reduced, especially if you buy multipacks. We usually now buy 4 packs ofT1295 (16 cartridges) and these now work out at £13.44 for the 16 cartridges,an exceptional deal. I believe these are the best value High Quality compatibleEpson Cartridges available.
These cartridges can be used in all of the following Epsom printers:SX235W /SX420 / SX420W / SX425 / SX425W / SX435W / SX438W / SX445W / SX525WD /SX535WD / SX620FW / B42WD / BX305F / BX305FW / BX320FW /BX525WD / BX625FWD.
If you did need to contact Foxy for any reason you caneasily do this via an email contact form on their website.
I have been delighted with the savings that I have made byusing these cartridges and can recommend them to all of you other money saversthat use this forum.IF THIS POST HAS BEEN HELPFUL - PLEASE CLICK ON THANKS :j0 -

There's a thin line between "endorsement" and "advertisement"...I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
I think it would be better if quoted the capacity of the cartridges in millilitres for comparison as all the original cartridges I have seen are quoted in metric capacities.;)
My apologies, I did email them and ask this question. They replied 16ml in the colours and 19ml in the black. However you are just taking their word on this which is why I weigh them. Some of the cartridges that I had bought prior to using Foxy advertised higher figures but weighed less. Try it yourself.IF THIS POST HAS BEEN HELPFUL - PLEASE CLICK ON THANKS :j0 -

White Christmas, I assume that your post was directed at my endorsement of the Foxy Ink Cartridges. If you care to look at my other posts you will notice that my sole aim is to help people save money. Having been ripped of my companies selling cheapo cartridges I was delighted to find some quality ones and chose to share this knowledge.
Should you know of any better value Epson Compatible ones then I will gladly listen to what you have to say and may even try them, but I will never accuse you of advertising.
I would suggest that you do some research of a person's previous post's before making a similar accusation again.
I have been a member on here for almost 7 years and would never dream of advertising, just trying to saving folks money.IF THIS POST HAS BEEN HELPFUL - PLEASE CLICK ON THANKS :j0
