Who be I buying from?

Found a fridge freezer online (hopefully flame retardent) with a choice between buying from two big name online retailers - nothing in price other than retailer brand.
Opted for the more familiar high street name. Not comfortable with online buying, I rang the website sales number. Very friendly chat. Went through my order details. Was asked how my old appliance broke and was assured I would have lifetime care from using this retailer. Sounded great until the penny dropped. I had to ask repeatedly to be told this was actualy an extended warranty. Pointed out I had not at any time asked for an extended warranty.
Was told I could be "opted out". Asked to speak to a manager. Told equally cheerful manager I was appallled at a well known high street brand still using this added warranty mis-selling technique. Was assured again I could be "opted out". I said I had never agreed to be opted in. Miffed, I cancelled order with first preference retailer and flounced off saying I would never buy from them again and they had lost a sale, so there.
Checked the other retailer website and rang their sales number.
Found myself speaking the the exact same sales agent.:o
Thought maybe I'd rung the wrong number. Apparently not. I was dealing with a go-between sales ordering company.
Weird thing is, I'd told the same agent in my first call that I had chosen retailer A over B for A's more familiar brand name. He'd agreed it was better to use a better known brand to order from!
So I asked him now, at what point when I was expressing outrage at retailer A's extended warranty sales technique did neither he or the 'sales manager' not feel embarrassed that it wasn't actually retailer A trying to pass me off an extended warranty?
Was told this company takes sales orders for many well-know companies. Was told I could be 'opted out' of an extended warranty as it 'appears you do not wish one'. But only after the sales agent went off to check he could this. I had to buy the appliance... but saved a fortune on a lifetime warranty for a product that probably won't have parts available after 10 years.
I was finally told I would get delivery next day. I asked if this was free. Oh no. But hang on, when did I....
I just don't believe it. :rotfl:
