new web host required

jazzy

I am looking for a new webhost my present hosting company were recently attacked by hackers and have now decided to cease trading.
So I am now looking for a secure hosting company not like my present one! any recommendations?

A lot of the companies that I have looked at now offer "Shared Hosting" what is this? If it is shared are there speed problem issues?

thanks

Shared means there are several sites hosted from one actual server.
Unless it specifically says dedicated then you usually get shared as its obviously much cheaper.

If you have a fairly small site (less than say 1000 unique hits a day) you can probably get away with shared hosting.

I use http://www.web-mania.com for my hosting. Their domains are a bit pricey so I have 123-reg for that

After problems with my 1st host I decided to switch to http://www.nethosted.co.uk/ and they have been fantastic to date.
