Insurance for ambulance (decommissioned)

Hi all
Does anyone know where I can get insurance for a decommissioned ambulance? Have been turned down by commercial vehicle insurance due to it being 'modified'.
The plan is to change it to a camper but need insurance in the mean time.

Try classic car insurers or the caravan club.

Main stream insurers? Some of them say no to a different set of wheels.

Try some of the insurers in the club mags and especially the classic and kitcar ones.

Try a broker such as Adrian Flux, or ask KGM or alternatively ask fellow owners

I think one of the caravan club affiliate insurers will do cover on vehicles in the process of conversion too, from memory there is a six month target on getting finished but that may well be negotiable down the line if things don't go to plan.
