  • I agree totally with scottishfreebiehunter. PLEASE make sure you get the correst size! If they are too tight they will do more harm than good.

General rules apply when traveling by air.
Make sure you are well hydrated. That means the day before you travel as well as the day of travel.
Try not to drink alcohol (sorry guys), tea or coffee as these dehydrate.
You should be looking at drinking AT LEAST a litre of water for every 6 hours that you travel. and get up and walk about as you are able (if you drink that much water i'm sure you'll have no option to be up and down to the loo!!
Also. avoid getting in a fixed position when sitting, try to keep your legs straight and do the exercises as shown on the video.

coreectly fitted flight socks are a good idea as the graduated compression helps the venous return.

Some people advocate taking aspirin before air travel, but this really should be discussed with your GP.

and finally (sorry for long post!)
If you get ANY signs of DVT or PE PLEASE seek help immediatley!

  • I bought an aero gym :o:rotfl:8.99 all it is is like a small cushion you blow up and excercises youre feet lol

Oh and Altimed do made to measure travel socks with class 1 compression (14-17mmhg) bit more expensive about £30.. though if you can get doc to write a prescription as to big rugby player legs like me:rotfl:you can get from Llyods for prescription cost
Staying clear of the aspirin though as stomach gets sore without that annoying it

Please remember though dvt is more likely to happen when we are all sat at pc for hours:eek::rotfl:
