Triodos Bank offering personal current accounts

Ethical bank Triodos Bank are about to begin offering personal current accounts.

The account will come with no debit card and no Faster Payment facilities. But you will be issued with a cheque book and you will be able to set up Direct Debits and Standing Orders.

So technically there's no account available yet, and you can only open one via a special link that's tied to some Fair Trade free-range ink.

So this would suggest the account wont be available to the masses then only the select few who use a special link?

Triodos announced it on their FB page. I already have a business account with them and my business current account's facilities include no debit card and no ability to send or receive Faster Payments. It's great because it makes it almost impossible to spend money :-)

A 'Payment' account would need Faster Payments to comply with the Payment Services Directive...

Worth remembering that Triodos do not offer FSCS protection. Just alone for that reason they wouldn't see a penny of my money.

If Triodos go bust does any money you have in your accounts with them disappear into thin air?:eek:
