Getting our money back

Hi Guys,
Got one thats causing my head to bang against a brick wall. My OH had car finance with RCI which we settled the middle of February, then on the 1st of March they took a payment. My OH rang them and they agreed that it was a mistake and that it would be refunded in the 10th of March, it wasn't so he called them on the 10th and they said that the refund had been actioned and would be in our account in 2-3 days, it wasn't, he called again on friday the 15th and was told it would go in today, it hasn't. I want to complain because they essentially took money out of our account that wasn't theirs to take and are taking their sweet time returning it, it has been 18 days surely that is reasonable time to sort out their mistake. Where do we go from here, do we ask for the complaints department and make a formal complaint? all we want is our money back asap.

If it was taken by Direct Debit then contact your bank and invoke the Direct Debit guarantee and the money should be put back in your account within a day or two.0

and make sure you cancel the DD at the same time.
If its on a card it is trickier.0
