How to draught proof louvre doors

We have louvre doors in our spare room above the garage. The draughts get through and into the room. I read a post which says you can fix 6mm mdf to doors to prevent draughts. Is there any other easier ways/materials you can use to draught proof them?

Many thanks for your help.:)

You could staple wallpaper or bubblewrap to them

I think i'd go for hardboard before Mdf, you can get it thinner.

Some of the bigger B&Q stores have panel saws and will do a number of cuts for free so you could get it cut neatly to the right size, just the job of pinning it to the doors.

Yes - I got 4 drawer bottoms cut to the exact size - all I paid was the price of the piece of the hardboard they were cut form.

  • Many thanks for all your ideas I think I will gomformthe hardboard and get it cut at B&Q if possible. I did try to get a curtain pole cut there but they said that they could not do it due to health and safety. They told me that it would be easy to cut and recommended a hack saw, which I bought and ended up sawing the pole in the bootmofmmy car as I didn't believe it would work...but it did :-).
However for this I would need someone else to cut it for a neat job.
Would I just fix it to the doors with nails? Would I have to remove the doors first?
    Many thanks

Why don't you just sort out the source of the draughts? All you'll do by what you are suggesting is contain the draughts within the wardrobe which, to me, doesn't make much sense tbh.

That's a difficult question to answer.
'Cos if you think of the way a door closes around the frame, if you nail/glue hardboard on it's going to make the door 'fatter' so you'll need to take it off and re-hang it. The alternative is not get the hardboard cut the full with of the door but measure the inside of the architrave, perhaps quarter inch on each side.
