Currys - warranty on a CD/Radio player?

After trying for ages to phone Currys I've given up and thought I'd ask here.
My mother purchased a CD/Radio player from a Currys store last November, but sometimes the Play button doesn't work.
From reading the Currys web site it seems that they would normally attempt a repair on this, but this means sending it away, etc.
Does anyone know if it should be possible to get it replaced? Phoning the Currys helpline is farcical, and I can't seem to find a physical local telephone number for the store that my mother bought it from.
Thanks

Currys use a call centre to answer their calls, but you might be able to find a number on saynoto0870.com
They might attempt a repair, they might replace it. Depends if there is a repair route available or not.
After several months of ownership a repair isn't unreasonable. Especially as it is a luxury item - you don't need a Radio/CD Player in your car. You can ask for a replacement but don't be surprised if they say no. Whatever you do don't demand one as that won't go down well with the staff. But you can always try asking nicely and see what they say.0 -
Can't you just go into the nearest Currys store with it? Let them send it away if they want to repair. You might even receive a replacement there and then if you're firm but polite and reasonable.0

If it's an inexpensive player, the likelihood is that it will have a replacement route instead of a repair route on the system.
The best way to find out is to take it in to store with the receipt and they will let you know in minutes.0 -

If it's a cheap model then it'lll be exchanged. If it's a more expensive (Sony) then it might be repaired, but probably an exchange on something like that anyway.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
