newbie with little clue re: No fault v NCD

Hi!
As someone who has never had to get car insurance before as always have been a company car driver, I now find myself trying to get a quote on a car and completely lost in the world of NCD!!
Although in the last 5 years I have had 2 incidents, neither were my fault and my company has confirmed in writing that for both incidents the full cost was claimed from the 3rd party - not on a knock for knock basis (should think so to, as they ran into me!)
This is the only infomation my company will provide me, so when i call insurers and explain it they say it means i have no NCD, even though neither were my fault and all costs recovered from the 3rd party - is this right??
I don't think i'm asking for much, 3rd party fire and theft on a little run about worth less than £1000 and i'm being quoted over £300 - does anyone know how i can get a better deal?
Please help if you can, as picking up car next week
Cheers in advance

Some companies do give recognition for ex company car drivers. As a current co car driver I'm afraid I do not know which but the question has certainly been asked before. A search should provide results.
EDIT - did this in the advanced search. Used NCD COMPANY CAR for the search parameters.

Not all insurance companies will allow a NCD against a co car policy unless you were a named driver on the co car policy, which most are not as they are usually open policies.0
