I just want to know if he could pull some sneaky loop hole that maybe i dont know about and try to twist things and say that we are breaching the contract by not finishing it even though he wont let us finish it, this sounds daft now i know but ive not been sleeping too well lately stressing over it all!
Not if you follow the advice I have already provided you with, and get any change to the original contract agreed in writing.
How long you been in this game? As I also said, changes to contracts whilst building is ongoing are very common. If you can't handle that, you'll need to find a new profession.0 -
In your opening post you seem to say that you think you can now get it done by the 22nd. Isn't it worth then working your socks off to do it so that the scaffolding can come down, rather than spending your time dealing with the worry of what action to take. I do not in any way condone the action of the solicitor. You could also perhaps speak to the Law Society to see if they have any advice.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

thanks all, yes we are working socks off to finish and hope to be done by end of week. the awkward part is they want this scaffold down before Thursday I tried to explain we can't take it down just for an afternoon so if we haven't finished using it it'll have to stay or else we can't finish the work. that's when they said if its not down then our arrangements will be ended. I realise after talking to cab that walking off will not be in our interest, so decided against that. we been doing this about 12 years now never ever had such an unreasonable customer, or ever had a problem with our work or our contracts being challenged. we always do whatever we can to be as helpful as possible but these people have been unreasonable beyond a joke!! they want us finished soon as but this week particularly have told us we cannot park on the property in case they need deliveries so told us to park in layby half a mile down rd, then they've arranged for moles to be gassed so we can't be on site wed. they are truly unbelievable!!
I tried to keep it short so didn't elaborate but I was assaulted by their gardener last Thursday when I tried to resolve an issue regarding access. we are a H/W team and I am the wife! the property we are working on is their country home and so they don't live here full time. I am thick skinned but I've never spoken been spoken to by anyone the way they have to us, I just dont think its necessary but appreciate that we've been lucky not to have encountered more !!!!!! over the years and its inevitable in this game.0 -
You only need to work to the original contract and can ignore the request to change it, as you are confident you didn't agree to the change then you are ok.
The downside is they may use it as an excuse to withhold payment to you, forcing you to go down the legal route, this may be their gameplan all along, letting you think they may be right.0
