How much to budget for food in Turkey??

I am considering a holiday in Turkey for a family of 4, either self catering or B&B. I have no idea how much to budget for food. How much does it cost a family of 4 to get a decent sit down meal (not a fancy restaurant, just good food)? Are there cheap options for lunch?
Any clues would be helpful. I just want a general guideline amount to bring for food, eating moderately well but not extravagant.
Thanks!

Hi we went to Marmaris last year SC, food very reasonable but can't remember exactly how much. We are a family of four and we take £1000 to spend on food, trips, souveniers and everything else, that always lasts us a fortnight and in fact we always manage to come back with some cash!0

Turkey is very cheap to eat out in, or you can always buy fresh food from the weekly markets. A carrier bag full of grapes cost me about £1 last year!! Its all so fresh, Migros supermarkets are relatively cheap also. All prices displayed.
You can buy lunch for £2 -£3 per person easily. Drinks can be the pricey bit, so always check the menu prices, & make sure when the bill comes you are charged the right amount.
They accept UK£ readily, & only ever take about £100 in Turkish Lira.
I'm going back in 3 weeks time & can't wait.

In Marmaris the cheapest eat out lunch is a kebab. These are great and can be had with a variety of fresh breads and wraps. For two people with soft drinks you can pay about 10 TL which is about £3.50.
For a nice sit down meal the prices are pretty uniform and you don't pay much of a premuium weather you eat in the harbour areas or the more tourist
places. Most places serve a flat bread with garlic butter and chilli paste to start anyway - so don't order a seperatte starter unless really hungry. Fillet steak with the trimmings can be around £8 and thats usually the most expensive ting on the menus (except some of the fresh fish).
If you have kids or are not big eaters you can share meals/salads/starters etc, the Turkish like to see you empty your plate and think they have dissopointed you if you leave stuff. Most places will encourage you and dont be afraid to ask about cost or what they can do, you really will be made welcome.
Freash food, particularly in the markets is good and cheap. Booze can be expensive particularly if you eat out so if you like a tipple pick up some duty free. I have to say that if I go out for dinner I enjoy a glass of wine and a G&T and am prepared tp pay the price.
I got back last week and the cheapest meal for two of us with drinks(we shared acasarole and had a couple of beers) was about £20.00. The most expensive for steaks wine and several G&T's (I'd had enough! was £40.00)No Links in Signatures by Site Rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
if marmaris avoid the main market area where the beer and food is more expensive. cheap as you can get everywhere else. we went on a full day boat trip for £10 each which included as much as you could drink and two meals!0
